BT Tourism Tender Cards

In 1993, three years before British Telecom (BT) introduced the new chip based telephone card, BT contacted various telephone card manufacturers to tender for the contract to supply and produce The New BT Phonecard (pictured right). Nine companies responded and produced samples for the tender adjudication process. This webpage features the sample cards produced by BULL CP8 without an embedded chip (Example A cards). In addition BULL CP8 also submitted a full set of six cards with embedded gold chip module, please see Example B cards.

Example A - BULL CP8 - Green header, white strip and white margin around card.

BULL CP8 submitted two identical sets apart from the finish, one in a matt finish and one in a gloss finish. The sets tendered are as follows:

1. Full set of six cards in matt finish; reverse printing on a white background; not wrapped; not embedded. 10 sets of the six card design were submitted in total.

TTCA001 - Beefeater - matt finish - reverse printed
TTCA002 - Finn McCool - matt finish - reverse printed
TTCA003 - Scots Guard Piper - matt finish - reverse printed
TTCA004 - William Shakespeare - matt finish - reverse printed
TTCA005 - Welsh Folk Costume - matt finish - reverse printed
TTCA006 - King Henry VIII - matt finish - reverse printed

2. Full set of six cards as above, but in gloss finish. 20 sets of the six card design were submitted.

TTCA008 - Finn McCool - gloss finish - reverse printed
TTCA009 - Scots Guard Piper - gloss finish - reverse printed
